A day-long conference was held here on Saturday to pay tributes to eminent researcher, physicist and scientist Professor Riazuddin. The conference was jointly organised by National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and National Centre for Physics (NCP).

A large number of intellectuals, pro-fessors, scholars and students attended the event. Speaking on the occasion Masud Ahmed, former member of Atomic Energy Commission said Prof. Riaz always put in his best efforts to obtain original results while working on various issues related to science and technology.

NUST Rector Engr. Muhammad Asghar appreciated the contributions of Professor Riazuddin in the field of Physics in his opening address.

Prof. Riazuddin has very strong and professional background in the field of Physics. He achieved many dis¬tinctions and awards from national as well as international institutes, which includes Tarngha-e-Imtiaz, Sitar-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz and awards from Unesco, Economic Cooperation Organisation and COMSTECH.

He is elected fellow of American Physical Society.

He wrote 13 books on different topics including Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics and need of contemporary Physics.

Prof. Riazuddin made original research contributions of high international standard in theoretical particle Physics and also has contribute to science development in Pakistan. He was appointed as lifetime Director General of NCP, while on a request he has recently joined NUST as a visiting professor. He also held visiting positions at the universities of Rochester, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Iowa, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Darebury Nuclear Physics Laboratory and International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste.
NCP Director General Dr. Hamid Saleem also lauded his valuable efforts in establishment of NCP, as Prof. Riazuddin remained pioneer member of NCP. Shaukat H. Khan of Planning Commission, Masud Ahmad of PAEC, Muneer A Rashid of CAMP, Hamid Saleem of NCP and A.H. Nayyar of SDPI also paid homage to the professor.
